Copilot Money and Sorayli both show you where your money went. They get there from opposite ends. Copilot connects to your bank and card accounts and pulls in their transactions for you. Sorayli never connects to a bank: you scan a receipt, type a purchase or import a file, and it records each item on the receipt with its own category. That one difference decides most of what follows.
Copilot's column below comes only from Copilot's own website and help center, read on September 28, 2026, with its price, devices, currencies and export checked again on October 6, 2026. Where its pages say nothing about something, we say so rather than guess. Sorayli is not affiliated with Copilot Money.

02Feature by feature
| Sorayli | Copilot Money | |
|---|---|---|
| How spending gets in | You scan a receipt, upload a photo on the web, type a purchase or import a CSV file. There is no bank or card connection of any kind. | It connects to your accounts and pulls in balances and transactions. It also supports manual transactions and manual accounts, including Cash. |
| Bank coverage | Not applicable. Where your bank is does not matter. | 10,000+ US financial institutions, through Plaid and, for some banks, Mastercard, MX and Akoya. Direct links for Apple Card, Capital One, Coinbase and Public. US accounts only. |
| Reading a receipt | Reads the shop, the date, each item with its quantity and price, discounts, tax and the total. Each item is saved as its own transaction with its own category. How receipt scanning works | Not described on the Copilot pages we read. |
| Categories | Each item gets a suggested category you can change before saving. Every plan. | Copilot Intelligence, a model trained on your own reviews, categorizes transactions once you have reviewed 30. You can split a transaction across categories. |
| Budgets | Monthly budgets for one category or for all spending. An alert at the point you pick, 50% to 100% (80% to start), and again at 100%, by email or iPhone notification. Alerts come from a scheduled check, not the moment you pay. Unspent money does not roll over. Free includes 2; Pro and Family have no limit. | Category budgets by month, with optional rollovers that carry unspent or overspent amounts into the next month. Its notifications article lists no budget alert. |
| Subscriptions | You mark a charge as recurring. The web Subscriptions page totals them per month and per year, and a reminder email lists what renews in the next 3 days. Sorayli does not find recurring charges on its own. | Its home page says it spots subscriptions, including ones you forgot. Its help center has you create a recurring from an existing transaction, and Copilot estimates how often it repeats. |
| Other alerts | Budget alerts and renewal reminders. | Low balance (under $100), credit use over 30%, 60% or 90%, a purchase over $500 that is not a recurring, and a weekly spending update on Mondays. |
| Currencies | Each purchase keeps its original amount and currency and is converted to your base currency at a daily rate from the purchase date or up to 7 days before. How multi-currency tracking works | US dollars only. It does not convert foreign-currency transactions; its help center suggests editing the amount by hand. |
| Investments and net worth | None. Sorayli has no accounts or balances; its totals are income minus spending. | Stocks, crypto and real estate (from a Zillow link), with net worth across accounts. |
| Questions about your spending | Ask in plain language and get an answer from your own transactions. Each question counts as one; Free includes 10 a month. | Money Assistant, in beta, answers questions about your own financial data. |
| Sharing | The Family plan covers up to 5 people, each with their own private ledger. | You can give a partner access to your account through a sign-in link. That person gets full control of the account. |
| Export | On the web, Pro and Family export transactions as CSV or account data as JSON. | CSV export of all transactions on iPhone, iPad, Mac and the web. |
| Where it runs | Web, iPhone and Android. | iPhone, iPad, Mac and the web. No Android app is listed. |
| Price | Free, or Pro at $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. See plans | $13 a month, or $95 a year. A 1-month free trial, and no free tier. |

03One receipt, seen two ways
The difference is easiest to see on a single shopping trip. Here is a mixed basket from a corner store: food, toiletries, a charger and a birthday card.

A bank feed sees one thing: a $44.68 card charge from Harbor Street Market on September 12. Copilot would pull that in, give it one category, and learn from how you recategorize it. If you want the charge divided, Copilot lets you split it across categories yourself, setting each part's amount with the receipt in your hand.
Sorayli starts from the paper. A scan reads all eight lines and saves each item as its own transaction with its own category, so the $12.93 of food is filed under Food & Dining and the charger under Shopping. It also reads the coupon, the tax and the total, and uses them to check that the receipt adds up. You can change any item's category before you save.
Sums of the line prices above, before the $2.00 coupon and the $1.80 tax.
That matters most for the stores where one trip covers several kinds of spending: supermarkets, pharmacies, big-box stores. It matters least for a streaming bill or a rent payment, where one charge is one thing and a bank feed already says everything a receipt would.
04What each costs for a year
US dollars, list prices on September 28, 2026. Copilot's from its home page; Sorayli's from its plan list.
Billed yearly, Sorayli Pro costs $25.01 less than Copilot: $69.99 against $95. Billed monthly, the gap is $36.12 over a year: $119.88 against $156. Copilot has no free tier; it offers a 1-month free trial and a demo you can try before you connect an account. Sorayli's Free plan is not a trial and needs no card to sign up. It includes 10 receipt scans and 10 spending questions a month, 2 budgets, and as many typed-in purchases as you like.
Pro removes the monthly limits on scans and spending questions, with a fair-use cap of 300 scans a month. Family is $17.99 a month or $129.99 a year for up to 5 people, each with a private ledger, sharing a cap of 800 scans a month. Copilot's pages describe sharing through a sign-in link to your own account, which gives the other person full control of it, rather than separate ledgers.
05Where Copilot Money is the better choice
For a lot of people in the US, Copilot is the better fit, and it is worth being plain about when.
- You want your cards and accounts tracked without typing purchases in. Copilot pulls transactions in from over 10,000 US institutions. Sorayli only knows what you scan, type or import.
- You care about balances, investments and net worth. Copilot tracks stocks, crypto and a home's value next to your spending. Sorayli has no accounts at all.
- You want budget rollovers. Copilot can carry unspent or overspent money into the next month. Sorayli's budgets start from zero each month.
- You want account alerts such as a low balance, high credit use or an unusually large purchase. Copilot sends those because it can see your accounts.
- You use an iPad or a Mac. Copilot has apps for both. Sorayli runs on the web, iPhone and Android.
- Most of your spending is single-item charges, bills and online orders, where the bank line already tells the whole story.
06Where Sorayli fits better
- You do not want to link a bank. Sorayli never asks for a bank login and has no connection to one. Our guide to tracking expenses without linking your bank sets out a weekly routine.
- Your bank is outside the US. Copilot says it supports US accounts only and is only in the US App Store. Sorayli does not depend on a bank, so the country does not matter.
- You spend in more than one currency. Copilot works in US dollars and does not convert. Sorayli keeps what you paid in the currency you paid it and converts it to your base currency at a daily rate.
- You want to know what was in the bag, not only what the store charged. Sorayli files each receipt item under its own category.
- You pay cash often. Cash never reaches a bank feed; a receipt or a typed entry is how it gets recorded in either app, and Sorayli is built around that. Our guide to tracking cash spending covers the habit.
- You want to pay nothing, or less. Sorayli has a Free plan, and Pro costs less than Copilot, monthly or yearly.
- Automatic tracking of every accountCopilot Money, clearly
Copilot pulls in transactions from connected US accounts. Sorayli has no bank connection by design.
- Investments and net worthCopilot Money, clearly
Copilot tracks them. Sorayli does not have accounts or balances.
- Item-level detail from paper receiptsSorayli, clearly
Sorayli saves each receipt line with its own category. Copilot's pages describe itemizing Amazon orders only.
- Spending in other currenciesSorayli, clearly
Copilot is US dollars only. Sorayli converts each purchase at a daily rate.
- Keeping your bank out of itSorayli, clearly
Sorayli never connects to a bank. Copilot is built around connections, though it does allow manual entries.
- Budgetseven
Copilot has rollovers; Sorayli has alerts at a point you choose. Different strengths.
- PriceSorayli
Sorayli has a free plan and a cheaper paid one. Copilot's price covers far more automation.
- DevicesSorayli
Sorayli runs on the web, iPhone and Android. Copilot runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and the web, with no Android app.
Our judgment from the two apps' own pages, not a score. Your answer to each question matters more than the count.
07Three questions that decide it
You can settle this in ten minutes with last month's bank statement, whichever app you end up using.
- Is every account you spend from at a US bank, and in dollars? If not, Copilot cannot see it, and the choice leans to Sorayli.
- Count the charges from stores where one trip covers different kinds of spending. If there are only a few, a bank feed tells you almost everything. If there are many, each one hides a split you would otherwise have to type in by hand.
- Add up the cash you spent. None of it is on the statement. If it is a real share of your month, you will be entering it by hand in either app, so pick the one that makes that quick.
If the answers point both ways, that is common: a bank feed for bills and a receipt habit for the weekly shop. See how Sorayli compares with a business-expense tool in Sorayli vs Expensify.
08Moving from Copilot Money to Sorayli
Copilot exports all your transactions to a CSV file: on iPhone from Settings, and on iPad, Mac and the web from the Transactions tab. Each row has the date, name, amount, category, account and notes, among other columns. Sorayli's CSV import, on the web and in the iPhone app, finds columns by their headings: Date, Title, Amount, Currency, Type, Category, Description and Notes. Before you import, open the file in a spreadsheet and:
- Rename the Name column to Title.
- Add a column headed Type with expense or income on each row; Sorayli does not read Copilot's Transaction Type column. A row with no type comes in as an expense.
- Make every amount positive. Sorayli needs a positive amount on each row, and the type says which way the money went.
- Leave out Currency if everything is in your base currency; rows without one use it.
- Rename categories that Sorayli does not have, or they come in uncategorized. Columns it does not recognize are ignored.
Your old transactions arrive as whole charges, as they were in Copilot. From then on, scanned receipts are split into items.

Not for your bank accounts. Copilot says it supports US financial institutions only, is in the US App Store only, and works in US dollars without converting other currencies.

Is there a Copilot Money alternative outside the US?

Does Sorayli connect to my bank?
No. Sorayli has no bank or card connection of any kind. You scan receipts, type purchases or import a CSV file, and each purchase is recorded from that.
