Wallet by BudgetBakers does a lot: it syncs banks, shares spending and savings goals with your household, exports to Excel and its own API, and handles more than 170 currencies. Its free tier is for manual tracking, and Premium adds the automation.
That breadth is also why people look elsewhere. Some don't want their bank connected at all. Some want a receipt to say what was bought, not only what was paid. Some live across currencies and want each purchase converted at the rate for its own date. Wallet's column below comes only from BudgetBakers' own pages and Wallet's App Store listing, read on October 6, 2026. Sorayli is not affiliated with BudgetBakers.

02A city break receipt, seen by each app
Here is a corner-shop run in Prague, paid in Czech crowns on a card from home: breakfast for the apartment, coffee to bring back and toothpaste.

In Sorayli, one scan reads the five lines and the coffee discount, keeps the receipt in crowns, and converts it to your own currency at the rate for October 2. The discount comes off the coffee it belongs to, so the price you track for that coffee is what you actually paid.
With Wallet on Premium, the card payment arrives from your bank as one transaction, and its features page lists receipt storage. On the free tier, you enter it yourself. Either way you see the total. What Sorayli adds is the inside of the receipt: what was food and what wasn't, and what each thing cost.

03Who should stay with Wallet
- You want your bank accounts synced. Wallet Premium connects to thousands of banks; Sorayli connects to none.
- You manage money as a household in one shared view. Wallet's Group Sharing does that. Sorayli's Family plan keeps each person's ledger private.
- You save toward goals together. Wallet's Group Sharing covers household savings goals; Sorayli has budgets and a subscriptions list, and no savings goals.
- You like to build on an API.
- You want to pay once. Wallet sells a lifetime Premium; Sorayli is free or a subscription.
04Where Sorayli fits better
- You don't want any app connected to your bank. Our guide to tracking expenses without linking your bank sets out the routine.
- You want receipts read line by line, with each item filed under its own category.
- You spend across currencies and want each purchase converted at the rate for its own date, not today's. How multi-currency tracking works
- You live abroad or move between countries. See Sorayli for expats and our guide to tracking spending abroad.
- Automatic bank importWallet, clearly
Wallet Premium syncs banks. Sorayli has no bank connection by design.
- A shared household viewWallet, clearly
Wallet has Group Sharing. Sorayli's Family plan keeps ledgers private.
- Item-level receiptsSorayli, clearly
Sorayli saves each receipt line with its own category. Wallet's pages list scanning without saying it splits items.
- Rate from the purchase dateSorayli
Sorayli converts at a daily rate from the purchase date. Wallet describes real-time rates.
- Keeping your bank out of itSorayli, clearly
Sorayli never asks for a bank login. Wallet's free tier is manual, but its automation runs on bank sync.
- Platformseven
Both run on iPhone, Android and the web.
Our judgment from the two apps' own pages, not a score.
05Moving from Wallet to Sorayli
Wallet lists CSV export on its features page. Sorayli's CSV import, on the web and in the iPhone and Android apps, finds columns by their headings: Date, Title, Amount, Currency, Type, Category, Description and Notes. Open Wallet's file in a spreadsheet first:
- Rename the column with each record's name or note to Title.
- Keep the currency column, headed Currency, for records that weren't in your base currency; rows without one use your base currency.
- Add a Type column with expense or income, and make every amount positive. A row with no type comes in as an expense.
- Rename categories Sorayli doesn't have, or they come in uncategorized. Columns it doesn't recognize are ignored.
Your history arrives as whole amounts. Receipts you scan from then on are split into items. Keep Wallet's export as an archive.

It has a free tier for manual tracking. Bank sync and Group Sharing need Premium, sold monthly, yearly or as a lifetime purchase. BudgetBakers shows its prices in the app.
Does Wallet by BudgetBakers scan receipts?
